Toxicology Research
To protect and improve the health of world population through toxicological research conducted to ensure a safe food supply. To use methods of toxicology research to identify and characterize food-based hazards to human health.
The Toxicology Research Division is responsible for investigating and identifying potential hazards to health associated with chemical contaminants, including those due to environmental, agricultural chemicals, toxic substances and natural food constituents and food additives. The search is conducted on the carcinogenic, mutagenic, reproductive, neurotoxic and other potentially harmful effects of these chemicals, including alterations of the immune system.
Toxicology Research Division is located in the building at Sir Frederick Banting, Tunney's Pasture, Ottawa, Ontario Canada. KIA OL2 (Postal Locator 2202Dl). There is a scientific research team 37 biologists and technicians and is part of the Office of Chemical Safety, Food Directorate, Directorate of Health Protection.
